Indore, Madhya Pradesh: BJP mandal president Kamal Chauhan has been booked by Indore police following allegations that he pushed and misbehaved with a 15-year-old girl at a Garba venue in the city. The case was registered on Saturday, October 17, after the incident reportedly came to light through a video circulating on social media.

What Happened at the Garba Venue?

According to media reports, the incident took place on Thursday night, October 15, at the Garba venue at Kankeshwari Ground in Indore. The girl had reportedly visited the venue to give an entry pass to her elder sister, who was participating in the Garba event. Police said an argument broke out over entry arrangements, during which Chauhan allegedly pushed the girl and removed her from the venue. Members of her family were reportedly present during the incident.After the video circulated on social media, police took cognisance of the matter, recorded the minor's statement and registered a First Information Report (FIR).

Case Registered Under POCSO Act and BNS

According to published media reports, a case was registered against Chauhan under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Sections 74 and 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Section 74 of the BNS concerns assault or criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, while Section 75 deals with sexual harassment. The allegations are subject to investigation, and the registration of an FIR does not establish guilt.

BJP Issues Show-Cause Notice

Chauhan, who is reported to be a supporter of BJP MLA Ramesh Mendola, had been assigned responsibility for managing arrangements at the Garba venue.

Following the incident's circulation on social media, the BJP reportedly took cognisance of the matter and issued Chauhan a show-cause notice. State BJP president Hemant Khandelwal reportedly asked him to submit his response within three days.
